Clevenger Insulator-Shaped Bottles
An advertisement in the July-August, 1972 Bottle News announcing "2 NEW Insulator Colors" also indicates that, besides golden amber and carnival, that these bottles also came in cobalt blue. In addition, I own one in a yellow green. According to the ad, only 1000 each of the golden amber and carnival insulators would be made. The golden ambers sold for $8, the carnivals sold for $10, and the cobalt blues sold for $8 each. The seller was:
The seller's name and logo is embossed on the bottom of the cobalt blue insulator bottle but not on the green one. I find the layaway terms interesting. The seller must have thought buyers would be reluctant to spend $18 all at once in 1972 so allowed them to send one-third as a down payment and make two monthly payments for the rest. |
All that is found on the bottom of the yellow green bottle is a raised triangle.
On the bottom of the cobalt blue bottle, shown to the left, is the following marking:

A similar ad as the one in the July-August 1972 issue of Bottle News can be found in the May-June 1972 Bottle News but this ad does not include the company name. I do not have a copy of the first issue of Bottle News to determine if an ad was run in that issue. No ads were found in the March-April 1973, September 1973, nor the October 1973 issues but a full-page ad was found in the July-August 1973 Bottle News that showed a variety of products sold by Collectables Inc including Insulator Figural Bottles. This ad indicates the company also sold limited edition flasks, perfume bottles, and a carnivalized glass mushroom.
