Lightning Rod Envelope
This is a nice envelope containing an advertisement for Munson's Copper
Lightning Rods. It is postmarked on the front with a Williamsport
cancellation and on the back with a Plainfield, PA cancellation dated
1888.
The sender is apparantly an agent for the Munson company named Thomas Maitland who operated at No. 22 West Street in Williamsport, PA The envelope states that Munson's copper lightning rods are "Admitted by all scientific men to be the best conductor in the market." This sold on eBay on Sept. 10, 2001 for $72.01 plus $1 postage. |
